Hard Disk Drive Data Security Protection Method

The Data Security Protection Method is to protect data on Hard
Disk Drive (HDD) by a Data Set which is preset by user.

The Data Security Protection Method is described in the Figure.

As shown in the Figure, there are three gateways corresponding
to the Keyboard Protection, Power On Protection and HDD Protection.
The Data Security Protection Method is applied to the HDD Protection.
This protection method is described below:
o  The HDD has the DataSet_A preset by user in a non-volatile
memory
      in the HDD.
o  To release the protection, BIOS should send the DataSet_B.
o  Only when the DataSet_A and DataSet_B are exact same, the

HDD
      has the unique value.
o  While the protection is working, any Read/Write access to data
in
HDD and updating of DataSet_A are prohibited.
o  The HDD shall count the number of incorrect DataSet_B coming and
it shall be stored in the non-volatile memory.  If it reach the
limit, the HDD shall be completely locked to any access.  Only
the repair center can release the lock.  Only when the correct
