Monolithic Magnetic Structure with Multiple Magnetic Functions

      Disclosed is a means to reduce the space required to package
electronic circuits that use multiple magnetic components.  The
technique can package magnetic components at greater densities with
fewer external solder connections than conventional methods.

      The technique places multiple magnetic devices on a single
monolithic structure, using the method of (1), which describes the
fabrication of a single device on a monolithic plate of magnetic
material.  The multiple magnetic devices may be of different types,
such as inductors and transformers, or they may be of the same type
and provide different functions, such as power transformers, drive
transformers and current transformers.

      The multiple devices may operate independently, or they may be
interconnected on the magnetic plate in special ways to realize novel
functions.  The interconnection of a current transformer and a power
transformer described in (2) is an example of the latter feature.
Also, the placement of multiple devices on a single monolithic
structure creates the opportunity to share magnetic flux and to
exploit coupling mechanisms that do not exist with the common
interconnection of discrete magnetic components.
