Abstract

Disclosed is a material for a platen passbook printer for banking industry. The material is a composite whose main element is carbon fiber. This gives the platen special merits on strength, vibration damping and light weight compare with metals. Consequently, it can be a prevention of subsidence caused by an impact of Print Head wires on the surface of the platen (Figure). Therefore, life of the platen becomes longer, print quality becomes stable, Print Head wires aren't damaged, and feeding trouble of papers and ribbons is prevented. In addition the capacity of solenoids and motors for making the platen up and down can be smaller because of the light weight of the platen. Therefore, the whole structure that has the platen becomes more compact and less expensive.
