Abstract

Disclosed is a Flexure Design having a structure for Load/Unload in a disk drive system. This newly designed flexure has side ribs which work as a guide for a loader. Due to the clearance between the apex of the rib and the loadbeam, the load/unload process can be accelerated. In addition, these side ribs generate stiffness of flexure.

Flexure Having a Side Rib for Load/Unload

      Disclosed is a Flexure Design having a structure for
Load/Unload in a disk drive system.  This newly designed flexure has
side ribs which work as a guide for a loader.  Due to the clearance
between the apex of the rib and the loadbeam, the load/unload process
can be accelerated.  In addition, these side ribs generate stiffness
of flexure.

      Fig. 1 shows a Conventional Suspension/Flexure Design.

      Fig. 2 shows the new Flexure design having Side Ribs.  The ribs
are located on both sides of the flexure and make some clearance
space between flexure rib's apex and loadbeam flange surface.  This
clearance is important for enhancing the load/unload process.  The
rib can be located on only one side or both sides of a flexure.
