Abstract

The APPC MVS/ESA* Multiclient Remote Environment Server (MRES) exploits the MVS/ESA APPC 4.3 queueing features so multiple APPC connections are processed concurrently. The APPC connections are handled as independent concurrent tasks with no noticeable affects or performance degradation to the remote client application.

APPC Protocol for the MVS Multiclient Server

      The APPC MVS/ESA* Multiclient Remote Environment Server (MRES)
exploits the MVS/ESA APPC 4.3 queueing features so multiple APPC
connections are processed concurrently.  The APPC connections are
handled as independent concurrent tasks with no noticeable affects or
performance degradation to the remote client application.

Unique features of the APPC MRES are:
  o  The APPC register-for-allocate, receive-allocate and other APPC
      calls are integrated within a multi-tasking environment.
  o  Communication parameters are controlled by the MVS operator.

The APPC MRES is started as a catalogued procedure by an MVS
operator.  This parameter controls the APPC client connection:
  SDN=id       An optional parameter that specifies the symbolic
                destination name.  Use this parameter to override the
                SDN parameter value that is specified in the
                catalogued procedure.
