Abstract

Disclosed is a system for video-phone on Personal Computer (PC), that contains the function of audio and video recording and play-back. This system consists of two adapter cards designed by ourself, NTSC/PAL camera, hand-set and Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) line. Under the control of application software running on the PC, video conference or video-phone system are implemented.

      Disclosed is a system for video-phone on Personal Computer
(PC), that contains the function of audio and video recording and
play-back.  This system consists of two adapter cards designed by
ourself, NTSC/PAL camera, hand-set and Integrated Services Digital
Network (ISDN) line.  Under the control of application software
running
on the PC, video conference or video-phone system are implemented.

      The system can handle the H.221 data, that conforms to Comite
Consultantif International Telegraphique et Telephonique (CCITT)
recommendation, directly from PC bus, like AT-bus, ISA-bus and MCAs,
and can record the audio and video data simultaneously while in
connection with ISDN line.  Then, recorded data can be retrieved by
the PC, and be transferred to a designated PC via ISDN.  This system
can also implement an Auto-Answering and recording machine on
video-phone, similar to normal audio telephone.

      With regard to the physical design of this system, data buffer
(3), that is driven by each H.221 frame synchronization timing, keeps
blocked data combined with audio and video, from H.221 data path
where exists between ISDN-I/F (Interface) (1) and H.221-data
processor (2).  Every frame synchronization at recording, the data
