Abstract

Disclosed is a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) bezel design which can make a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) on the frame Z direction stronger and to use fewer parts, and also there is no change from the current design to keep ElectroMagnetic Compatibility (EMC) performance. Fig. 1 shows the example of LCD module design which uses current LCD bezel. A ground pattern pad is established on PCB, and set a gasket between metal bezel and the ground pattern pad. Consequently, the EMC performance will be improved by grounding to the bezel which covers LCD module itself, and the gasket fixes PCB Z direction. But, the gasket is so soft that PCB goes down the bezel side when the connector is inserted and is pulled out. It occurs to break the Tape Automated Bonding (TAB) lead line.

performance.  Fig. 1 shows the example of LCD module design which

      Fig. 2 shows the example of LCD module design which uses this
new LCD bezel.  New designed LCD bezel which is made a recess by
press contacts to the ground pattern pad of current PCB when it
assembles new LCD bezel.  So, LCD module cost reduction is possible
because of removal of the gasket and elimination of the process to
put the gasket on PCB.  Also, the PCB is fixed between hard metal
bezel and frame, and there is no scrap which is broken TAB lead line.

high yield and cost effective than the current design, and it doesn't
decrease EMC perfo...
