New Liquid Crystal Display Backlight for Multi-Screen

      Disclosed is a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) backlight design
for multi-screen display that is more efficient to put a lamp between
two lightguides on side-light type backlight.

      The Figure shows the example of this new backlight.  Put a lamp
between two lightguides, and cover with reflection film except
lightguide.  Then, direct lighting area to receive the light from the
lamp is larger.  As the result, the lamp lighting efficiency will be
improved.  It is also possibly a more efficient lighting design
because reflected light by reflection film is not 100% efficiency.

      Also, active areas between the two adjacent will be smaller for
applying the chip on glass technology, and power consumption will be
decreased because the amount of lamp usage will be reduced to one
from two current designs.  Therefore, more efficiency backlight
design for multi-screen display can be obtained.
