Abstract

Disclosed is a method for managing the configuration information under a multiple initiator. Since initiator informations are automatically managed by the following features, the overall SCSI command overhead is reduced. 1. Makes the table of configuration information for each initiator on the sector buffer. 2. Discriminates the initiator ID. 3. Loads the table corresponding with the initiator ID. 4. Decodes the table and process these informations.

Multiple Initiator Information Management

Disclosed is a method for managing the configuration
information under a multiple initiator.  Since initiator informations
are automatically managed by the following features, the overall SCSI
command overhead is reduced.
  1.  Makes the table of configuration information for each initiator
       on the sector buffer.
  2.  Discriminates the initiator ID.
  3.  Loads the table corresponding with the initiator ID.
  4.  Decodes the table and process these informations.

The Table shows an example of the process.  Host Interface
Control (HIC) decides the initiator ID and loads the table from
sector buffer through the DMA transfer bus.  Then HIC decodes the
table and uses these parameters for proceeding with a command.

This method can decreases the amount of the microprocessor
intervention with a little additional logic.
