Detecting Method for Extra Pins of Connector

      Disclosed is a method for detecting extra pins of a interface
connector attached on a ceicuit card for Hard Disk Drive (HDD).

      Fig. 1 shows a interface connector and its footprint.  The
interface connector has some removed pins.  Removed pins are
positioned on numbers of #20, #49 and #50 for this sample case.

      The footprint of #20, #49 and #50 is connected to GND or +5V
(Vcc).

      Card function tester has 50 probes to contact the interface
connector.  If extra pin(s) are existing in the interface connector,
the detection circuit detects the extra pin(s) which connects the
card GND (Figs. 2 and 3).
