This invention is used for the data read/write operation of a Hard Disk Drive (HDD) which uses a Magneto Resistive (MR) head. This invention solves the timing shift between read and write operation which is brought by the structure of MR head.

Timing Adjust for Magneto-Resistive Head

      This invention is used for the data read/write operation of a
Hard Disk Drive (HDD) which uses a Magneto Resistive (MR) head.  This
invention solves the timing shift between read and write operation
which is brought by the structure of MR head.

      Timing Adjust - The MR head has read element and write
element on it.  There exists a certain amount of seperation in the
order of um.  This separation is corresponding to 100ns to 1us delta
in time.  Therefore, the read operation starts 100ns to 1us later
than write operation.  In order to cancel the timing shift, timing to
start write and read operation is adjusted with considering the
timing shift due to the MR seperation.  In this application, the
timing adjust is done for each zone format according to the data
transfer rate.
