Wing Structure Voice Coil Motor for Magneto-Optical Disk Drive

      Disclosed is a wing structure Voice Coil Motor (VCM) for
magneto-optical disk drive.

      The Figure shows the example of this apparatus.  Generally,
magneto-optical disk drives have VCM (1) as a method of seeking and
tracking.

      Tracking coils (2) are aligned perpendicular to the seek
direction (3).  And magnets (4) are used separately to apply magnet
field to front effective area (5) and rear effective area (6) of the
coils.

      Its performance of seeking is determined by tracking coil's (2)
resistance, inductance and effective coil length.  By using this
method, effective coil length increases twice than common technology.
At the same time, as there are no cores inside the coil, the
inductance of the coil can be minimized.
