Abstract

Disclosed is a latching of the address bus line signal on the hard disk drive's interface line. In general latching, the address bus line signal is not required. However, it was found that it is very effective to latching the address bus line for avoiding the performance degradation because of the electrical noise and the Electrostatic Discharge (ESD). Fig. 1 shows the comparison chart of the circuit.

Electrostatic Discharge Protection Circuit on Address Bus Line

      Disclosed is a latching of the address bus line signal on the
hard disk drive's interface line.  In general latching, the address
bus line signal is not required.  However, it was found that it is
very effective to latching the address bus line for avoiding the
performance degradation because of the electrical noise and the
Electrostatic Discharge (ESD).  Fig. 1 shows the comparison chart of
the circuit.

      On the current circuit, the hard disk drive sometimes mis
operation when the switching noise or ESD noise is on the data bus
line.  However, lachting the address line by read/write strove makes
the noise level decrease.

      Fig. 2 shows the example of noise level on the data bus signal
during the read/write strobe is active for T.  No noise is observed
on the latched output bus line.
