ISDN Attachment Plug with Integrated Wrap Test Facility

Two methods for providing wrap capability for RJ-45 plugs (as
used in ISDN installations) are disclosed.  These permit easy
self-testing of the ISDN equipment and cable without reliance on
other equipment.

It is useful to be able to perform a wrap self-test on ISDN
equipment, all the way to the end of the cable, in order to
completely test the equipment, and isolate the problem.  It is
advantageous to build the wrap connector into the equipment so it
cannot be misplaced.  ISDN cables must be terminated with a 100 ohm
resistor when they are wrapped.  Two implementations are shown:

The first implementation (Figs. 1 and 2) requires the user to
remove the plug from the outlet in the usual manner, and then to
press and hold the TEST button while performing the test.

The second implementation (Figs. 3 and 4) automatically enters
test mode whenever it is removed from the outlet.
