Low Insertion Force Edge Card Tab

      Described is a unique design for an edge card tab that allows a
reduction in initial insertion force by 50-75%.

      A standard edge card has a beveled edge to help guide and start
the card into the edge card connector.  The problem with this system
is that the connector pins must be flexed for each contact all at the
same time.  This initial force is especially high for long connectors
such as those on feature and daughter cards.

      The inverted "v" design not only has the beveled edge, but also
has an inverted "v" cut along the face of the entire card.  This
allows the card to only have to overcome the connector pins on the
outermost contacts first, then a pair of contacts on each side from
then on until the card is fully inserted.
