Abstract

Disclosed is a fire detection system. The system consists of sensor-equipped radiofrequency identification tags and a radio frequency identification reader or base station. Provision is made for connection of the reader to an alarm system which may provide an audio or visual alarm as well as electronic notification in the case of a fire. The radio frequency identification tags are placed at key locations throughout the structure to be protected. Each tag is connected to one or more sensors that may detect the products of a fire: heat, light, particles, or gaseous combustion products including carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide. The tags are coded in such a way as to indicate their coordinates.

Fire Detection System

Disclosed is a fire detection system.  The system consists of
sensor-equipped radiofrequency identification tags and a radio
frequency identification reader or base station.  Provision is made
for connection of the reader to an alarm system which may provide an
audio or visual alarm as well as electronic notification in the case
of a fire.  The radio frequency identification tags are placed at key
locations throughout the structure to be protected.  Each tag is
connected to one or more sensors that may detect the products of a
fire:  heat, light, particles, or gaseous combustion products
including carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide.  The tags are coded in
such a way as to indicate their coordinates.

In the case of a fire, the tags whose sensors detect the fire
convey the sensor data along with their locations to the base station
or reader.  The reader then activates the alarm system and fire
suppression system and notifies police and fire departments.
