Actuator Lock Noise Elimination Algorithm

      Disclosed is a method for eliminating actuator lock noise of
the Hard Disk Drive which has a VCM and Magnet actuator lock.

      When the Hard Disk Drive enters idle or other power savings
mode, the actuator goes actuator lock because of the necessity of
avoiding unexpected landing on the data zone or other data
reliability point of view.  This method has the ability to reduce the
shocking noise by exciting very short VCM current pulse to the VCM
coil just before locking to the magnet actuator lock on the opposite
direction.

      By doing this, damage of the actuator at the locking stage will
be minimized by decreasing user environmental noise.

The algorithm of this method consists of 2 parts (Figs. 1 and 2):
  1.  Measuring distance between Magnet lock and data cylinder
  2.  Short pulse current excitation to VCM at actuator lock process
