Abstract

Disclosed is a device for marking in the Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) panel to measure the total pitch variation between the Array glass and the Color Filter glass. A pair of marks is located at a same distance of the pixel area on both the Array and Color Filter glasses, and makes possible to measure the variation caused by thermal expansion or distortion, etc.

Total Pitch Measurement Marks in Liquid Crystal Display Panel

      Disclosed is a device for marking in the Liquid Crystal Display
(LCD) panel to measure the total pitch variation between the Array
glass and the Color Filter glass.  A pair of marks is located at a
same distance of the pixel area on both the Array and Color Filter
glasses, and makes possible to measure the variation caused by
thermal expansion or distortion, etc.

      The Figure shows the example of this marking.  Mark 1 and
Mark 2 are located on the Array glass.  The distance between them is
completely same as the distance of one side of the pixel area.  Mark
3 and Mark 4 are located on the Color Filter glass at the same
position as Mark 1 and Mark 2.  Other marks are located in the same
way.  Ideally, the distance of the pixel area on the Array glass
coincides with it on the Color Filter glass.  However, actually,
these are not fitted because of thermal expansion, distortion of the
glass itself and assembly error.  To know this total pitch variation
is important to design the shape of Black Matrix which determines the
apperture ratio of the pixel.  This marking makes it easy to know how
the each glass has the total pitch variation and how the assembly
error is.

      This marking can be applied not only to TFT or STN LCD panel
but also to the devices using two glasses.
