Arcing Proof Inverter Cable

      Disclosed is a structure of an arcing proof inverter cable
design in a notebook Personal Computer (PC) which has an inverter
card for a Cold Cathode Fluorescence Lamp (CFL) in the lower box
side, not in an Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) side because of having
an LCD panel as large as possible in the restricted form factor.

      In this kind of system, an inverter cable is generally routed
to the lower box through the hinge mechanism and is bent every time
when the LCD display being opened and closed.

      When the conductor in the normal cable fatigues, it breaks in
the sheath of the cable and has arcing and smokes from the sheath in
some case due to higher voltage is being applied to the CFL.  Having
the arcing proof function in the cable is very important from the
safety view point in this kind of systems.

      Adding a few special conductive fibers in the normal inverter
cable in parallel or in spiral realize the arcing proof function
(shown in the Figures).  The special conductive fiber should be a
kind of carbon fiber or a kind of reinforced metal fiber, which are
recently being used for the super fine diameter high technology
fishing line, which has the characteristics of the flexibility and
the toughness for bending and the tension.

      The resistance value of this fiber is not so important as long
as it is conductive because the applied voltage is more than 400V and
the current is in several milli-ampere...
