Abstract

In an embodiment, a patient restraint is made up of fabric for such as, Polyester + Nylon Material. The patient restraint is configured to be strapped around the shoulders of a Patient, which prevents patients from falling. Furthermore, a locking is provided between the straps. A sensor switch, which is inside the locking mechanism, sends two signals, one to the software of the system & other to an alert system.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001]               This invention relates generally, to safety systems and more particularly to, a safety interlock for patient restraint in a tilt table used in medical imaging.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002]                Tilt table configuration is required to have an alert system for a user to know that the patient restraints are engaged in the table during tilt operation.  An interlock is required in a control system to start tilt axis motion with the patient restraints.

[0003]                Patient safety should be ensured during tilt axis movements by not having any patient slipping and engaging the restraints.  An interlock inside software should ensure an additional safety in case of malfunctioning of the alert system.  The user should not be allowed to use the system with tilt axis without patient engaged with the tilt restraints.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0006]    Various embodiments of this invention provide a safety interlock for patient restraint in a tilt table used in medical imaging.   However, the embodiments are not limited and may be implemented in connection with other systems such as, for example, 

[0007]    In one embodiment shown in FIG. 1, a patient restraint is made up of fabric for such as, Polyester + Nylon Material.  The patient restraint is configured to be strapped around the shoulders of a Patient, which prevents Patients from falling.
