Abstract

Disclosed is a novel structure of black matrix on Thin Film Transistor (TFT) array for Liquid Crystal Display (LCD). The feature of this structure is that an insulator is intermediate layer between carbon black dispersed resin as black matrix and display pixel electrodes. By using this structure, higher aperture ratio with higher display quality is realized.

Structure of Black Matrix on Thin Film Transistor Array for Liquid
Crystal Display

      Disclosed is a novel structure of black matrix on Thin Film
Transistor (TFT) array for Liquid Crystal Display (LCD).  The feature
of this structure is that an insulator is intermediate layer between
carbon black dispersed resin as black matrix and display pixel
electrodes.  By using this structure, higher aperture ratio with
higher display quality is realized.

      In order to use carbon black dispersed resin as black matrix
on TFT array, it is necessary to insert an insulator layer between a
black matrix layer and display pixel electrodes.  The disclosed
structure provides higher aperture ratio with higher display quality
for TFT-LCD by using an intermediate insulator between a black matrix
and display pixel electrodes.

      The Figure shows the example of a cross-sectional view of the
present structure.  Black matrix (1) and display pixel electrodes (3)
are insulated each other by insulator (2) in high density regions of
each display pixel.
