Abstract

A portable Personal Computer (PC)-system is equipped with a plurality of standardized interfaces, such as PC-card interfaces (formerly Personal Computer Memory Card International Association (PCMCIA)). This enables changing the configuration of the portable PC-system without redesign of the mechanic case by simply exchanging one or more of the system components. This is made feasible by the standardized interfaces which are integrated into the portable PC-system. Consequently, investments of the customers are protected, since system components can be easily exchanged or replaced by more modern units.
