Optical Disk Actuator Apparatus

      Disclosed is a method for driving two axis motions of optical
actuators for optical disk drives.

      The Figure shows an example of this apparatus.  The left
schematic is a front view of this actuator; the other is the right
side view.  Optical actuators of optical disk drives have VCMs (1) as
a method of focusing and tracking.  The driving coils, both for
focusing (3) and for tracking (4), are located in the same magnetic
fields (2).  Focusing coil (3) is mounted to the focusing unit (5),
which is supported by parallel leaf springs (6).  On the focusing
unit (5), the objective lens (7) is mounted for the purpose of
focusing to the optical disk.  Tracking coil (4) is mounted to the
optical head unit (8), which is supported by a leaf spring (9).  In
the optical head unit, laser diode for light source, sensing lenses
and optical sensors are assembled.
