Repairable Pixel Design for Thin Film Transistor/Liquid Crystal Display

      Disclosed is a device for the Thin Film Transistor/Liquid
Crystal Display (TFT/LCD) pixel which can be repaired after
completion of the array process by re-etching.  This pixel has an
insulation layer as a top layer with a slit which is located between
the upper and lower pixel electrodes.

      Fig. 1 shows an example of this pixel.  The pixel has a slit on
the insulation layer between the two pixel electrodes.  The short
defect caused by electric conductive dust, remainder or patterning
failure between the upper and lower pixel detected after completion
of the array process can be repaired by re-etching.  As a result of
that, those two pixels are separated and work as good ones.  Fig. 2
shows the yield can be also improved.

      This pixel design can be applied not only to TFT/LCD, but also
to the other LCD panels.
