Slide Guide System by Combination of Dovetail and Latch

Disclosed is a slide guide system for slide knobs that is used
in a notebook Personal Computer (PC).

This system consists of a slide knob having a latch and a
dovetail, and a guide hole with profile for a dovetail (Fig. 1).  The
system can realize a very slim and compact slide guide system, easier
assembly and mechanical strength in comparison with the conventional
systems.

Fig. 2 shows the difference between this slide guide system and
conventional ones.  By using the dovetail profile on one side, this
slide guide system can realize a more slim design while it is made
more rigid mechanically.

Fig. 3 shows easier assembling.  With the conventional system,
an operator cannot see exactly where latches are located against the
guide (or like volume arm in case of brightness/contrast controls).
But in the case of this system, operators can see latches (and the
volume arm).

Fig. 4 shows that the presented design can also avoid
mis-assembling.

This useful design is applicable not only to the notebook PC,
but also to other products which have slide knobs in a slim box.
