Removal Support Tool for Compliant Pin Connectors

Disclosed is a removal support tool for compliant pin
connectors.

The removal support tool for compliant pin connectors provides
full support to the connector housing and printed circuit board
during connector removal as the connector pins are pushed out of both
the connector housing and the printed circuit board (Fig. 1).

During insertion of a compliant pin connector, an insertion
block F is made such that the pin mating side slips into slots in an
insertion block which pushes on compliant pin insertion shoulders G,
which are on the pins for the purpose of pushing against during
insertion of the pins into a printed circuit board.  The back side of
the printed circuit board is fully supported by a platen H.  The
primary force the printed circuit board sees during insertion is
compressive (Fig. 2).

The compliant pin removal support tool A has slots
perpendicular to the slots used in the insertion tool F (Fig. 1).
This full connector rework tool would rest on the press table or
platen and would fully support the connector housing and the printed
circuit board during the removal of the pins by block C, in...
