Suspension Assembly with Corn Shape Load/Unload Tab

      Disclosed is a load/unload tab design of a suspension assembly
used in hard disk drives.

      Recently, load/unload has become a key technology in hard disk
drive business.  In order to reduce friction force between a ramp and
load/unload tab, a rounded or cylindrical shape of the load/unload
tab is recommended.

      If only a cylindrical shaped load/unload tab is used, the edge
of it is very sharp and that will scrape the ramp surface as shown in
Fig.  1.  Therefore, the edge of the far end of the load/unload tab
should be spherical.  Unfortunately, it is very difficult to make
such a shape of the load/unload tab because the press-formed area is
closed, with no open forming as shown in Fig. 2.

      In order to solve this problem, use the combination of
cylindrical and corn shape load/unload tab as shown in Fig. 3.  By
having such a load/unload tab, rounded contact surface to the ramp
can still be  obtained.  Additionally, this shape of load/unload tab
does not have a  closed area, making it desirable also from a
manufacturability point of  view.
