for Tablet Personal Computer

      Disclosed is a compact Personal Computer Memory Card Interface
Association (PCMCIA) keypad (keypad hereafter) for tablet Personal
Computers (PCs).  The keypad is comprised of keys, PCMCIA interface,
and microcodes.  The keypad provides mobility and application
expandability for the tablet PC.

      Fig. 1 shows an example of key assignment of the keypad.  The
keys usually comprise of some function keys and ten keys.  By using a
multi-character assignment, character symbols are printed on the
keypad.  The key top can be depressed by fingers and pen attached to
the tablet PC.

      Fig. 2 shows one example of the shape of the keypad.  The
keypad is folded and is inserted into the PCMCIA slot when carrying.
For operation, the keypad is unfolded and reinstalled into the PCMCIA
slot, then the keys appear beside the tablet PC.

      A push pop type of keypad is also considered, as shown in
Fig. 3.
