Radiofrequency Tag with Biological Sensor

Disclosed is a Radiofrequency (RF) identification tag
containing a biological sensor.  The tag acts as a transponder to
transfer its identification number and biological data to a radio
base station when the tag is queried by the base station.

The biological sensor is aimed at detecting the presence of
harmful biological organisms or their toxins in contaminated beef,
poultry, fish or other items.  The detection device, mounted on or
coupled to the transponder tag chip, has a reactive circuit element
which undergoes a change of state, electrical resistance, or
reactance, or optical density when in contact with a specific
biological organism or toxin to be detected.  Information on the
detected biological agent is transferred to the base station when the
tag is queried.
