Structured Document Management System

Disclosed is a system for a Structured Document Management,
which is utilized to manage a text file and an image file mixed
document such as Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) documents.

This system consists of two programs.  One is an editor program
to create a structured document and the other is a program to manage
the created document.  In the case of creating a document that
includes an image file, this editor program requires information
which is utilized to identify the image and automatically embed the
information as a character into the image by using a method of
embedding information into the image data itself when the image is
inserted into  the document.  The embedding method is called "data
hiding".

Fig. 1 illustrates a function that is implemented into an HTML
editor program, which is used to create a home page.  When an image
is inserted into an HTML document, character information for the
image is automatically embedded into the image by using data hiding
technology so that the embedded information becomes invisible.

The other program of this system is a structured document
management program for the documents created by the editor program
described above.  This program controls text files and image files
which are used in a document.  This program retrieves an embedded
character information from an image data and displays the information
with information of a text file. ...
