Cable Plug Position Label

Disclosed is a method for labeling system cables to assist with
plugging in the correct location.  This method uses graphical labels,
on the cable only, and does not require text.

The label shows an outline of the connectors on the backplane
in the area that the cables are plugged.  The outline is oriented on
the label in the same relative location as the connectors on the
backplane.  The label on each cable that plugs in this area would
look the same with one exception.  On each label, the connector
outline on the label that represents the mating connector on the
backplane would be  highlighted to indicate the cable plugging
location.

Fig. 1 represents a typical backplane with cable connectors
shown.  Two cables, Cable A and Cable B, with identical style and
size connectors are shown plugged to the backplane.

Fig. 2 shows the label for Cable A, with the outline for the
connector plugging location highlighted.

Fig. 3 shows the label for Cable B, with the outline for the
connector plugging location highlighted.
