Abstract

The MQSERIES Information Management System (IMS) Batch Message Processing, region (BMP) Initiator (MIBI) remotely initiates IMS BMPs from an OS/2* workstation for execution on any Multiple Virtual Storage (MVS) host in a sysplex. This application monitors the execution of these BMPs and posts status back to the OS/2 PM* application when they either complete or abend. The tool uses the MQSERIES messaging software to assure message delivery and to provide a faster rate of data transfer across the Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) communication layer.

      The MQSERIES Information Management System (IMS) Batch Message
Processing, region (BMP) Initiator (MIBI) remotely initiates IMS BMPs
from an OS/2* workstation for execution on any Multiple Virtual
Storage (MVS) host in a sysplex.  This application monitors the
execution of these BMPs and posts status back to the OS/2 PM*
application when they  either complete or abend.  The tool uses the
MQSERIES messaging software  to assure message delivery and to
provide a faster rate of data transfer  across the Transmission
Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) communication layer.

      The MIBI is a Graphical User Interface-(GUI) based application
on OS2/WARP* which messages BMP names, MVS host names and parameters
to a single MVS image for remote initiation of BMPs on any of a
number of  systems in a sysplex.  The application has a presentation
manager front  end, with application code written in C to parse the
panel input and package it into MQSERIES messages for transmission.
These messages are  sent via MQSERIES and TCP/IP to a central MVS
system with JES2, where they are destined for a trigger queue.  The
arrival of a message causes  a trigger event, the MQSERIES trigger
monitor (also developed for this  express application), gets a
