Disclosed is a sheetmetal embossment pattern for the use and installation of snap-in Delta Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) filter outlets. This embossment pattern allows one to reduce the sheetmetal thickness called out in the Delta specifications for installing the outlet.

      Disclosed is a sheetmetal embossment pattern for the use and
installation of snap-in Delta Electromagnetic Interference (EMI)
filter outlets.  This embossment pattern allows one to reduce the
sheetmetal thickness called out in the Delta specifications for
installing the outlet.

      This design is valuable to anyone using Delta Electronics
snap-in EMI filter outlets.  In the Delta Electronics product
specifications for snap-in outlets, it is suggested that the
sheetmetal mounting panel thickness be from 1.0 mm to 1.6 mm.  Using
this range of  sheetmetal thickness and the specified rectangular
cutout, the user can  simply snap-in the outlet in the sheetmetal
panel.  Refer to Delta Electronics product catalog or the
documentation referenced in this article for additional details.

      This design gives the users of this line of Delta products the
option of using sheetmetal thicknesses as low as 0.6 mm.  This could
be a valuable alternative for those who require the sheetmetal
structure to mechanically hold the outlet, yet would like the option
of going to a  thinner gauge of sheetmetal to eliminate weight.

      The embossment design described in this article is specifically
for the Delta product line; however, the overall concept can be
