Abstract

Disclosed is a Thin Film Transistor (TFT) pixel design method to stabilize the pixel capacitances. Each pixel requires the same amount of capacitance to operate in the same way. The overlap between the gate line and the pixel electrode gives the capacitance. Since TFT pixels consist of several layers, different layer positions result in different capacitance area sizes, which result in different pixel brightness (Fig. 1).

Thin Film Transistor Pixel Design

      Disclosed is a Thin Film Transistor (TFT) pixel design method
to stabilize the pixel capacitances.  Each pixel requires the same
amount of capacitance to operate in the same way.  The overlap
between the gate line and the pixel electrode gives the capacitance.
Since TFT pixels consist of several layers, different layer positions
result in different capacitance area sizes, which result in different
pixel brightness (Fig. 1).

      Fig. 2 shows a new pixel design method.  The gate line has a
hole that meets the pixel electrode edge.  This hole maintains the
same amount of capacitance for the different pixel electrode
positions.
