Twisted Plane Flange for Low-Profile Suspension

      Disclosed is a loadbeam flange design for a low-profile
suspension with a merge lip.

      Fig. 1 (a) and (b) shows a conventional suspension/Head Gimbal
Assembly (HGA) design with a merge lip.  For (a) case, it is
difficult to reduce HGA height at loaded states.  On the other hand,
low profile  (b) case, additional parts for the merge lip are
required causing a cost  demerit.

      Fig. 2 shows the new loadbeam flange.  The most important point
is crossing the flange structure that has this assisted surface.
Also, the loadbeam and assisted surfaces are twisted.  By using this
structure, it is possible to reduce costs without losing both low
profile and merge lip.
