Error Recovery Method for Actuator Loading from Ramp

      Disclosed is an error recovery method for actuator loading from
the ramp in the Hard Disk Drive which has disks, read/write heads,
actuator and ramp for the actuator load/unloading.

      When loading the actuator to the disk at the power on sequence
or recovering from power save mode or any other situation, the
actuator sometimes does not move on the ramp even if the maximum
Voice Coil Motor (VCM) current is excited to the coil.

      The condition of the contact point between the ramp and the
actuator is not always stable because of the roughness of the ramp or
a latch magnet or non-linearity of the actuator pivot, and the other
conditions which affect the initial moving force to the actuator.

      Oscillation of the actuator by a certain VCM current level with
a certain frequency just before starting loading operation improves
the unexpected force at the contact point which is shown above.  The
frequency can be a resonance point of the system or any other
frequency which improves the above conditions.

      This oscillation algorithm is applied in the error recovery
process of the loading process.  The flow chart is shown in the
Figure.
