Flex Cable Bias Control by Bracket Adhesive Area

      Disclosed is an apparatus to control the flexible cable bias
torque by changing any adhesive area between the flexible cable and
bracket, with or without stiffener in the Hard Disk Drive (HDD).

      Fig. 1 shows an example of flexible cable assembly used in
HDD.  Flexible Cable (1) is attached to Bracket (2), which is fixed
to an actuator in the HDD, with or without stiffener at area (3) by
adhesive, and the edge (4) of the adhesive is the same as that of the
bracket, which influences the characteristics of flexible cable bias
torque.

      Fig. 2 shows an example of a flexible cable bias torque control
by changing the adhesive area between Flexible Cable and Bracket from
the edge (4) in Fig. 1 to the edge (5) with or without stiffener,
which increases the length of flexible cable (6) and extends the
diameter of  flexible cable loop in HDD.  Therefore, the flexible
cable bias torque  or bias zero position on the actuator can be
changed to any targeted value.  This enables control of the flexible
cable bias torque without  bracket modification.
