Parts Conveyance Belt Modification and Apparatus for Making Same

Close tolerance timing belt modification is required to
carry/convey small parts through a processing station.  The disclosed
apparatus achieves this uniformity objective.

Timing belts (2) are loaded into the fixture (1), shown in the
Figure.  Tension on the belt (2) is achieved by moving the rod (4) to
the optimum position.  The drive motor (5) is turned on which moves
the belt (2) about a cutting/grinding tool (8) which can be used to
gain uniformity in the belt width by removing guide block (6).
Machining of each of the timing belt (2) teeth as it passes about the
cutting/grinding tool (7) with guide block (6) in its normal position
yields accurate and consistent profiles of the individual teeth to
each other.  Positioning of the apparatus (1) relative to the
machining process would normally be preferred over the depicted (2)
different positions of the cutting/grinding tool, shown as (7) and
(8).
