Algorithm of Sensing Rotational Shock by Using Spindle Motor Pulse

      Disclosed is a method to detect the rotational shock and
protect the head from physical damage.

      To detect the rotational shock, two numbers are compared.  One
is the interval of the FGI pulse from the motor driver.  The other
number is the correct FGI pulse interval (criteria) calculated from
the motor  target rotational speed.  The number of the FGI pulse is
the product of  PHASE, SLOT, POLE of the motor (Figure).  If the
difference is greater  than the criteria, the WRITE operation aborts,
and immediately the head  is moved to the safety zone (example, CSS
Zone, on the ramp).
