Abstract

Disclosed is a method to verify written data quickly. Sectors to be verified are read into a reserved 512-byte area in the sector buffer by using "Same Mode". "Same Mode" is a special mode that always transfers numbers of sectors to a specified same location in the sector buffer. By using "Same Mode" and a reserved 512-byte area, it is not necessary to reserve as much area of sectors in the sector buffer as the read sectors for verification needs.

Quick Verification on Written Data

      Disclosed is a method to verify written data quickly.  Sectors
to be verified are read into a reserved 512-byte area in the sector
buffer by using "Same Mode".  "Same Mode" is a special mode that
always transfers numbers of sectors to a specified same location in
the sector  buffer.  By using "Same Mode" and a reserved 512-byte
area, it is not necessary to reserve as much area of sectors in the
sector buffer as the read sectors for verification needs.

      "Verify Mode" is used to verify written data so far.  "Verify
Mode" is also a special mode that does not transfer read data to the
sector buffer.  However, this mode cannot verify many sectors at once
but only one sector per revolution.  Therefore, it takes a long time
to verify many sectors by using "Verify Mode".  Consequently, using
"Same Mode", a reserved 512-byte area can solve this problem and come
true quick read verification of many sectors.

      It is necessary to reserve a 512-byte area in the sector buffer
for "Same Mode" verification to read many sectors to be verified
after setting the address of reserved area and "Same Mode".

Of course, this verification can be applied to any written data.
