Portable Internet Settings

Disclosed is a method for storing and moving internet settings
from one system to another.

Users often access the web from many different systems.  When
changing systems today, users do not have access to the settings they
made on another system.  This significantly degrades the usability
and usefulness of web browsers.  People must, for instance, search
for or remember Uniform Resource Locators (URLs), which are in their
bookmark list on another system.

The present invention stores all settings in a portable
settings file.  These settings will include:  bookmarks, history
list, browser Graphical User Interface (GUI) settings, home URL,
cookies, security file, etc.  The file may be carried by the user on
a diskette  or it may be stored on the web and retrieved when needed.

The settings file will need to be designed into the browser or it can
be accessed via a plug-in.
