Media With Protuberance

Disclosed is an optical media with a protuberance or
protuberances for protecting the active layer of the media from a
scratch.

The figure shows an optical media 1 with a protuberance 2 on
the embossed side of the media 1.  The protuberance 2 is formed at
the injection molding process of the media 1.

As shown in the figure, the protuberance 2 is shown at the most
inner annular portion of the media 1, but it might be located at any
other location on the embossed side, such as the most outer annular
portion.  Furthermore, the shape of the protuberance might be a
continuous annular, discontinuous annular, or dotted protuberance,
etc.

The protuberance can protect the embossed surface of the media
from a scratch when the media is put on the table or inserted into a
cartridge.
