      Disclosed is a device which represents an improved
continuous forms feed mechanism with pin wheels and paper guide
doors.

      As shown in Fig. 1, the device incorporates the use of existing
pin wheels 1 by adding hinged and spring-loaded tractor doors 2 that
keep the continuous forms engaged with the pins while pulling the
forms through the front entry guide of a PROPRINTER* Family printer
in order to maintain a path of least resistance.

      The tractor doors 2 are opened for paper insertion and closed
against the pin wheels 1 for continuous engagement of forms, paper
and pins.

      Fig. 2 shows the present paper path with considerable drag on
the paper due to its curved configuration.

      The tractor doors 2 are optimized to allow cut sheets (front
paper entry) and continuous forms with the push feed (rear paper
entry) to pass over it without obstructions, as shown in Fig. 3.
Continuous forms will pass under the tractor doors 2 with minimal
drag in front-feed configuration.

      The front-feed configuration has the desirable result of
reducing the "shingling" effect (relative movement between layers of
paper and carbon sheets) that occurs when wrapping the forms around
the feed rolls 3 in the conventional manner.
