Abstract

Disclosed is a cover set design for hardware packaging. The design allows superior service accessibility to machine components by sliding them out of the cover set in a tray (Fig. #1). With this packaging design, the outer cover and the display it supports can remain in place while configuring or repairing a machine, thus eliminating the need to have a second person present to remove heavy displays.

"Works in a Drawer" Component Access System

Disclosed is a cover set design for hardware packaging.  The
design allows superior service accessibility to machine components by
sliding them out of the cover set in a tray (Fig. #1).  With this
packaging design, the outer cover and the display it supports can
remain in place while configuring or repairing a machine, thus
eliminating the need to have a second person present to remove heavy
displays.

The design also eliminates the need for cover retention screws
by using a sprung catch on the access latch to retain the component
tray.  The access latch is molded into the rear plastic bezel and is
designed to be operated using one hand (Fig. #2).  Operation of the
access latch requires pushing down to disengage the sprung catch and
then pulling rearward to clear the component tray from the cover set.
