Abstract

1,2-dione, disodium salt) can be synthesized by neutralizing one mole of squaric acid sodium carbonate in water. The anhydrous form of disodium squarate is white powder, whereas the hydrated form is white needle. One molecule of hydrated disodium squarate contains three molecules of water.
