High Temperature Fuser Temperature Measuring System

      A stable method for measuring the hot roll temperature of a
fuser in an electrostatic printer is described.

      Fig. 1 is an end view of the hot roll and Fig. 2, a
side view, showing the mounting and orientation of a thermistor and
its associated circuitry.

      A thermistor 10 is mounted on a polyamid imid circuit board 11
which is attached using rivets 16 to a thin metal flexure 12 which is
fixed to the fuser frame 13.  The thermistor 10 is attached to the
polyamid imid circuit board using Teflon (du Pont) tape 14.  The
flexure 12 provides a compliant mounting for thermistor 10 which
contacts the hot roll 15.  The polyamid imid circuit board insulates
the thermistor 10 from the frame and provides a mounting surface for
the thermistor circuitry.  The circuit board is made of polyamid imid
to retain strength and stability when exposed to the high temperature
experienced in this application.
