Abstract

Disclosed is a method to test head sensitivity using the following geometrical relationship. A ferrite horseshoe-shaped piece 1 having highly parallel legs and an A.C. current carrying coil 2 is positioned as shown in the figure. The coil 2 carries A.C. symmetrical current of a frequency accepted by the data channel, but at relatively low frequency (i.e., 20khz). A similarly effective relationship can be achieved if the head is rotated 90 degrees about its longitudinal axes (A) and all other relationships are maintained.
