Disk Pressure Sensing Unit

      Illustrated in the figure is a tooling which provides a method
and apparatus to detect disk deflection during operations such as
clamping or other process steps.

      The figure shows the disk 1 with the piezo electric element 2
bonded to the surface 3.  The element extends from I.D. to O.D.  and
is bonded in its four corners to the surface of the disk.  Wires are
then attached to the top and bottom layer of the crystal for voltage
monitoring.  As the disk distorts, or a pressure is applied to the
surface of the piezo element, a voltage occurs.
