Abstract

Electronic purse systems, typically using Smartcards, are increasing in popularity as a payment system. Electronic purses are loaded with funds from other payment systems. Currently, purses are either loaded from payment systems of the same payment system provider (bank, credit card organization, etc.) or from cash or are sold like merchandise as pre-loaded cards.

loading device through the payment authorization agency and its
network.  Only two end points (the purse provider system and the
purse loading software in the device) need to know the content of the
messages.
