Electronic Purse Float Indicator

An electronic purse is typically a smartcard, loadable with
funds and usable to perform purchase transactions in a convenient and
secure payment system.

Electronic value held on a purse represents real money held in
a float.  The float increases when payments are received for purse
loads and decreases when payments are made to settle purchase
transactions or  when payments are made when a purse is unloaded.

A problem arises in predicting the money held in the float when
payments may take different forms and different clearing cycles.

This problem may be overcome by providing a float indicator
which is updated by the amount of payments received for each load
transactions after each batch of purchase transactions have been
processed.

The indicator makes it possible to predict how the money in the
float will change in response to load, unload and purchase
transactions.
